What should I do if my occupation is on the NSW Skilled Occupation List?

You should ensure that you meet DIBP and NSW State Government eligibility criteria.  You also need to have all documentation & information ready.  There is a limit of 1000 applications for the October intake.  Once 1000 applications have been submitted to the NSW State Government, applications will close.  Applications will not be accepted by the online system.

You may wish to engage the services of a registered migration agent to assist you with this critical application.   At Universal Migration Advisory Services, our immigration consultants are all registered with the Office of the MARA.  We can help you with both your State Sponsorship Application and your Visa Application.

A successful state sponsorship application entitles you to 5 bonus points on the Skilled Migration Points Test, as well as priority processing by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.

What if my occupation is not on the NSW Skilled Occupation List?

If your occupation is not on the NSW Skilled Occupation List, you may consider:

  • Sponsorship by other states/territories of Australia
  • Employer sponsorship
  • Independent visa application
  • Other visa categories

Please book an appointment with a registered migration agent to find out all your options.

Why are Accountants and ICT Professionals excluded from the October intake?

According to the NSW State Government, these occupations combined took up 75% of all places in the July intake.  In order to meet the dynamic needs of the NSW economy, the occupation list is frequently revised.  This means that these occupations may return to the list in the future.

There will be more intakes in 2015.  Applicants who are interested in migrating to Australia should speak with a migration agent to find out about their immigration strategy & alternative options.
