Accountants currently in Australia on temporary visas will be glad to know that the occupation of Accountants has not been removed from the Skilled Occupation List, despite incorrect news reports.
A decision is still yet to be made with regards to the 2015-2016 Skilled Occupation List. The Skilled Occupation List determines which occupations are considered in demand and suitable for independent migration to Australia.
A spokesman for the Assistant Minister for Immigration and Border Protection is quoted as saying:
However, a spokesman for Assistant Immigration Minister Michaelia Cash said the Department of Industries was not due to make a recommendation on the composition of the skilled occupations list until early next year.
Senator Cash will make a final decision on the skilled occupations list after she receives that advice.

The Skilled Occupation List is due to be updated in mid 2015 and more information will be published closer to the time. Occupations may be added to the list, and some occupation may be removed when the list is revised.
